"SP" is single-player GTA 5. Every vehicle on gta5-mods.com is an SP mod: it is packaged to be installed into a game folder with OpenIV, and a FiveM server cannot load it in that form. This guide takes one SP car mod to a FiveM resource you can ensure, and is exact about what the conversion does not do. You need the mod's page link on gta5-mods.com.
SP mod vs FiveM resource
The models and textures are the same files in both worlds. What differs is the packaging around them and where the car's data is registered.
| Single-player (SP) | FiveM | |
|---|---|---|
| Where the car lives | The player's own game folder | A resource folder on the server, streamed to every player |
| Add-on packaging | A dlc.rpf archive in dlcpacks | Loose .yft and .ytd files in stream/ |
| Registration | A line in dlclist.xml, plus content.xml and setup2.xml inside the archive | fxmanifest.lua with one data_file line per meta file |
| Replace mods | Overwrite files inside the game archives | Streamed files with the stock car's name override it while the resource runs |
| Display name | A language file inside the dlc.rpf | A client script calling AddTextEntry |
| Usual tool | OpenIV on a Windows PC | A text editor, or a converter |
So "SP to FiveM" means three things: unpack the archive, sort the files into stream/ and a meta folder, and write the manifest. The wiki entries on dlc.rpf and add-on vs replace cover the two SP formats.
Converting an SP car to FiveM from its link
Step 1: Open the mod on gta5-mods.com and copy the page link
The address has the form gta5-mods.com/vehicles/name-of-the-mod. It has to be the mod's own page in the Vehicles section, not the download button's link and not a search result.
Step 2: Paste the link into the converter
Paste it into the converter and start the conversion. The mod's download is fetched and unpacked on the server side; nothing is read from your own GTA V folder and you do not need the game or OpenIV on the machine you are using. A failed attempt does not use up a free conversion.
Step 3: Download the zip and look inside
For an add-on mod the zip holds one resource folder: fxmanifest.lua, a common/ folder with the mod's own meta files (vehicles.meta, handling.meta, carvariations.meta and carcols.meta when the mod has them) and a flat stream/ folder with every .yft and .ytd. For a replace mod you get the stream files under the stock car's name and no meta files; see converting replace cars.
Step 4: Install it on the server
Copy the folder into resources/, add ensure foldername to server.cfg and restart, or run refresh and ensure foldername in the server console. How to install FiveM car mods has the panel-by-panel version.
Step 5: Add the display name and spawn the car
Spawn the car with the <modelName> from common/vehicles.meta. Its name will read NULL, because the SP language file is not loaded by FiveM and the zip has no display-name script. The three-line fix is in FiveM car names show NULL.

Which SP mods can be converted
| SP mod | Converts here | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Add-on car, bike or truck from gta5-mods.com (a dlc.rpf) | Yes | The page on the addon to FiveM converter shows how the pack maps onto a resource |
| Replace vehicle from gta5-mods.com | Yes | Comes back as a replace resource; replace to add-on gives it its own spawn name |
| A dlc.rpf or .oiv that only exists on your disk | No | There is no file upload. Use the manual route in the dlc.rpf to FiveM guide |
| An SP mod hosted on another site | No | gta5-mods.com vehicle page links only |
| Scripts, trainers, maps, weapons, player models | No | Vehicles section only |
| A mod larger than 300 MB | No | Per-mod size limit |
Which vehicle mods convert cleanly, and which need extra work afterwards, is in the gta5-mods.com to FiveM compatibility guide.
What does not carry over from single player
- Custom engine sounds. A sound pack inside the mod is not carried over. Point
<audioNameHash>in vehicles.meta at a stock vehicle, or install the sound as its own resource: custom engine sounds. - The display name. See step 5.
- Anything the mod needed besides its own files. An SP script, a trainer entry or a shared parts pack named in the mod's description is not part of the vehicle download.
- Tuning. Handling and the other meta values are the author's. The conversion does not write or retune
handling.meta; change it yourself in the Handling Editor. - Texture size. Files are kept as the author made them. FiveM warns about streamed assets that need more than 16 MiB of memory; the Texture Optimizer shrinks an oversized
.ytdin the browser.
Before the car goes on a live server, drop the zip into the Resource Inspector. It reads the archive in your browser and lists manifest, stream, texture and meta problems.
FiveM to SP is a different job
The converter works in one direction: SP mod in, FiveM resource out. It does not turn a FiveM resource back into a single-player mod. That direction means building a dlc.rpf, with its content.xml and setup2.xml, around the files, which is manual work in OpenIV on a Windows PC. If the car started life on gta5-mods.com, the simpler answer is to download the original SP mod from its page there.
Doing SP to FiveM by hand
If the mod is not on gta5-mods.com, or you want to see every file move, the manual route is written out folder by folder in converting a dlc.rpf to a FiveM resource. It needs OpenIV and therefore Windows; converting without OpenIV covers Mac, Linux and Chromebook. Manual vs automated conversion compares the two.
FAQ
Is there an SP to FiveM converter?
Yes, for vehicles on gta5-mods.com. Paste the mod's page link into the converter and you get the car back as a FiveM resource zip. It works from the link only; it does not take an uploaded file.
Can I use a single-player car mod on a FiveM server without converting it?
No. A FiveM server does not mount a dlc.rpf and does not read dlclist.xml. The files have to be loose in a resource's stream/ folder, with the meta files declared in fxmanifest.lua.
Does SP to FiveM work for replace mods as well as add-ons?
Both are accepted. An add-on comes back with its own meta files and spawn name. A replace mod comes back as stream files that take over the stock car on the server until you rename them.
Can it convert a FiveM car back to SP?
No. The conversion goes from single player to FiveM only.
Do I need GTA V or OpenIV installed to convert an SP mod?
Not for the conversion, which runs from the link in a browser. You need the game and FiveM on the PC you play on to see the result.
Will the car drive the same as in single player?
It uses the handling data the author shipped, so it should. Servers often retune top speed and grip afterwards so custom cars stay in line with the rest of their vehicle list.
